Running a Solo Game Studio - Launch Day Approaching
·Running your own solo business is a rather insane journey, especially if you’re in a position where you're actually doing (almost everything) by yourself.
In my case, it's a solo game development studio.
"Even those small things become very precious"
I do programming, graphics, design, sound, music, and everything related to product development. But I also do marketing.
Some would say it’s foolish to do everything on your own. There are people who can help, and luckily, many have been around to assist.
If not helping with the actual product development, marketing, or some other related tasks, it's been about supporting my ongoing efforts. For me, the actual work has not been the issue. The issue arises more from thinking and making decisions on your own, and then living with those decisions, not knowing if they were the right ones to make. (Can you ever know?)
Things like encouragement, sparring, mentoring, or even those casual discussions with someone have been the biggest motivators for me to keep going and push through those tough decisions.
"The game will be buried by the Steam algorithm very rapidly"
I’m releasing my first solo game project in a couple of days. For the past week, I’ve been more or less crunching the game into a releasable state. During these times, all types of support and encouraging words have been a big blessing.
Be it someone visiting my office for lunch or coffee, or someone on my Discord channel giving thumbs-up for the stuff I’ve been doing.
Even those small things become very precious, and I just want to say thank you to everyone who's helped me so far.
In case you want to help as well, mark your calendar for the 12th of December at 8 PM (EET) and purchase Seeker: Quest on Steam + leave a review.
The goal is to get at least 10 reviews during the first hours of the release, as it seems that the game will be buried by the Steam algorithm very rapidly if it doesn’t.
The game will cost around 3 Euros at launch.
Hope to see you on the “hype train” (Discord) on the 12th of December! I’ll be running streams and such to celebrate the launch.
Have a great week, everyone!
